Activities at the Chateau

The facilities & activities for adults and children at the chateau area second to none. Many families that arrive at the Chateau in a hire car never touch it again until they depart for their return flight.

The grounds of the Chateau are large enough for children to play and explore for hours leaving the adults to relax with a glass of wine. The pool is gated and lockable and the grounds themselves are secured so children can roam freely.

For the children

The attention to children’s needs comes before that of adults and this being the case allows the adults to profit in a more relaxed way than would be normal. A huge trampoline, heated pool, children’s play areas with swings and tyres on trees etc, explore the gardens,  a magical folly,  a magic grand piano, extensive fancy dress options and a relaxing room with a large range of DVD’s – all these and more add to the magic of your holiday. Dinner times are left to the discretion of the group and the flexibility of food means the children can lose themselves in the grounds. There is an open-air or covered table tennis table or a game of badminton, great for those in between eating and swimming pool times.

For the adults

All the facilities for the children are obviously open for the adults – while the grounds lend themselves to pure relaxation. The gardens are beautifully tended by the gardener.  There are numerous sun loungers, chairs  or a hammock  in a variety of places within the gardens, so its very easy to find some quiet time.  The surrounding area is great for walks.

Tennis courts are 5 minutes away:

Restaurants, bars and cafes are 5 minutes away;

Wine tasting opportunities – being in the region renowned for its wine;

History excursions – lots of chateaux, caves and fortified towns to explore;

Bustling markets – plenty to choose from to buy your favourite cheese. Riberac market is one of  the biggest markets in the Dordogne;

Horse-riding, Golf, Hot Air Ballooning, Canoeing and boat trips;

Bicycling – the chateau has numerous bikes but further bikes can be hired locally;

Day trips to Bordeaux, Sarlat or Perigueux and numerous picturesque town and villages in the Dordogne;

Cookery classes for children or adults.

The staff at the chateau know the area well and are there to help advise, book, supply info, directions on any restaurant or activity you may well be interested in.

20 minutes away is the beautiful white sandy beach of Lake Jamaye which is a wonderful day out for the children and parents along with a fully prepared picnic from the chef.  Or perhaps a morning at the beach followed by lunch at the house and a relaxing afternoon by the pool.

The house is very attentive to the individual needs of its guests and encourage any special requests to be brought up in advance, a little careful planning never goes amiss.
